No entanto, essa lição parece estar amplamente esquecida. Não diga isso em voz alta, mas algumas coisas funcionam na Europa. No final de janeiro, o Banco Europeu de Investimento (BEI) anunciou seus resultados, que foram recebidos com quase total indiferença. No entanto, a instituição merece reconhecimento. The death of Quentin Deranque is proving to be a turning point for the French far right, a movement riddled with deep divisions. Deranque, a 23-year-old far-right activist, was attacked in Lyon on Thursday, February 12, by individuals suspected of belonging to the antifascist group Jeune Garde, which is close to the radical left La France Insoumise (LFI) party. The various factions of the far right plan to gather on Saturday, February 21, for a march in memory of the young member of the revolutionary nationalist movement. Despite the gathering, the radical far right is undergoing a major upheaval. OPINION COLUMN 'The spectacle of European disunity in the face of pressure from both the United States and China is infuriating' By Eric Albert  True progress in Europe has always occurred when member states agree to relinquish part of their sovereignty, observes Le Monde's Eric Albert in his column. Yet, this lesson seems largely forgotten. Don't say it too loudly, but some things work in Europe. At the end of January, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced its results, met with near-total indifference. Yet, the institution deserves recognition. Created in 1958 but languishing until the global financial crisis of 2008, it became the world's second-largest multilateral development bank, just behind the World Bank, in less than two decades. In 2025, it provided €100 billion in financing, including €13 billion in France.
