Poucos minutos antes do anúncio das primeiras estimativas para o primeiro turno das eleições municipais de Paris, no domingo, 15 de março, Saïd Benmouffok ainda estava imerso em cálculos, ponderando a unidade da esquerda contra as divisões da direita. O líder da Place Publique, na capital, membro da coligação de esquerda liderada pelo socialista Emmanuel Grégoire, explicou seu raciocínio aritmético: "O que importa é a diferença entre nós e Rachida Dati [Les Républicains, LR]. Se Pierre-Yves Bournazel [Horizons, centro-direita] tiver um desempenho abaixo do esperado nas pesquisas, significa que ele já perdeu aqueles que realmente querem uma mudança de poder, e o restante de seu eleitorado é moderado e poderia nos apoiar parcialmente no segundo turno. Entre o eleitorado de Sophia Chikirou [La France Insoumise, esquerda radical], mesmo que ela chegue ao segundo turno, haverá, de qualquer forma, votos migrando para Grégoire como voto tático. Se terminarmos o primeiro turno com pelo menos cinco pontos de vantagem sobre Dati, estaremos em uma posição confortável", afirmou. Many of the voters she courted shifted to the far right or the center. Just minutes before the announcement of the initial estimations for the first round of the Paris municipal elections on Sunday, March 15, Saïd Benmouffok was still deep in calculations, weighing the left's unity against the right's divisions. The leader of Place Publique in the capital, a member of the left-wing coalition led by Socialist Emmanuel Grégoire, laid out his arithmetic reasoning: "What matters is the gap between us and Rachida Dati [Les Républicains, LR]. If Pierre-Yves Bournazel [Horizons, center-right] performs below poll expectations, it means he's already lost those who absolutely want a change in power, and the rest of his electorate is moderate and could partly back us in the second round.
